With a playoff win on the line, Whitesboro rose to the challenge on Saturday. They came out on top against the Gunter Tigers by a score of 5-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Bearcats, who have now won seven matchups in a row.

Avery Howerton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bradi Gallaway, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Whitesboro's win bumped their record up to 24-9. As for Gunter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 25-12.
