Baseball Game Preview: St. Elizabeth Vikings vs. Sanford Warriors

The St. Elizabeth Vikings will challenge the Sanford Warriors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Elizabeth has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Elizabeth came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 17-4 to Conrad Science. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Red Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

St. Elizabeth saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Bozzo, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Sanford put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Tatnall as they made off with a 14-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

John Malloy was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Ruhland, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Sanford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tatnall only posted a batting average of .200.

Sanford's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average this season. As for St. Elizabeth, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
