Softball Game Recap: Proviso West Panthers vs. Lyons Lions

Proviso West extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to the Lyons Lions, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Lions from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Lyons, their victory ended a nine-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Lyons' part, Ellie Cook looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Julia Ahrens was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Evans, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Proviso West is set to challenge their familiar foe Glenbard West at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Lyons will face off against rival Downers Grove North at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
