Baseball Recap: Isabella Beats Aliceville for Their Third Straight Win

Isabella got themselves on the board against Aliceville on Thursday, but Aliceville never followed suit. They blew past the Yellowjackets 18-0. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by 12 runs or more this season.

Colton Conway made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Isabella let Austin Porter and Levi Wilkins run wild. Porter scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4, while Wilkins scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Porter has become a key player for Isabella: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-8 otherwise. Aiden Gray also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The victory (which was Isabella's third in a row) raised their record to 11-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Aliceville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.

Isabella will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Yellowjackets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
