Payson hadn't done well against Mountain View recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Lions won by a set and slipped past the Bruins 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Bruins on April 8th, they had to take a 3-0 defeat.

Payson was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-18, 15-11.

Brockton Shirley paced Payson's offense, picking up 19 kills. Shirley got some help from Dillon Houston and his 46 assists.

Payson's victory bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Mountain View, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-13.

Coming up, Payson will take on Cedar Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mountain View, they will square off against Orem at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
