Basketball Recap: Neuse Charter's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Neuse Charter had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 43.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 48-37 victory over the North Duplin Rebels. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Rebels back in January, they had to take a 60-54 defeat.

Neuse Charter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Yedidia Tsolenyanu, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 boards gave Tsolenyanu a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Temple, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

North Duplin lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Maggie Brown, who had eight points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Tateyawna Faison, who scored seven points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals.

Neuse Charter has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.7 points per game. As for North Duplin, they moved to 14-4 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Neuse Charter Cougars take on the Hobbton Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neuse Charter is facing Hobbton at the right time seeing as Hobbton is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for North Duplin, they will square off against Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
