Baseball Recap: South Mecklenburg Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact South Mecklenburg can now relate to. They fell just short of the Weddington Warriors by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Sabres haven't been shut out since back in April.

South Mecklenburg got a good showing from Connor Longley, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Longley has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

South Mecklenburg moved to 17-11 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Weddington, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8-1 record this season.

South Mecklenburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Weddington, they will take on Providence on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
