Softball Recap: Hicks Takes a Loss

Hicks entered their contest against Anacoco on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Pirates fell 13-9 to the Indians. If the Pirates were looking for revenge after losing 4-0 to the Indians when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Saige Hagan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Abby Addison was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Hicks' loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 15-5. As for Anacoco, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-3.

Hicks and Anacoco should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings. The Pirates (ranked 54th) will meet Plainview (ranked 289th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Anacoco will take on Elizabeth at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (46 vs. 252).
