Basketball Game Preview: South Pointe Stallions vs. Ridge View Blazers

The South Pointe Stallions and the Ridge View Blazers will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as South Pointe comes in on 17 and Ridge View on four.

South Pointe is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 92-23 victory over Dreher. The Stallions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 34 points or more this season.

South Pointe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JaNyia Cunningham, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Cunningham's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Woods, who went 7 of 12 en route to 19 points and seven assists.

South Pointe was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Ridge View didn't have too much trouble with Sumter on Friday as they won 58-42.

Ridge View is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for South Pointe, they pushed their record up to 17-0 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season.

South Pointe was able to grind out a solid victory over Ridge View in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, winning 57-44. Will South Pointe repeat their success, or does Ridge View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
