Recap: Warren County Eagles vs. Weldon Chargers
After flying high against the KIPP P Pride on Tuesday, the Warren County Eagles came back down to earth. Warren County fell 49-40 to Weldon on Friday. Warren County has struggled against Weldon recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Warren County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zarria Henderson, who scored 12 points. Henderson set a new season high mark in points with 12. Another player making a difference was Aryana Meadows, who scored 12 points.
Weldon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kamya Coles out in front who scored 23 points along with four steals. Shaelyn Johnson was another key contributor, almost dropping a triple-double on nine points, nine rebounds, and 12 steals.
Warren County's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Weldon, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Warren County will head out on the road to face off against North Edgecombe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Weldon, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Southeast Halifax at 6:00 p.m. Southeast Halifax is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
