Recap: Newport Wildcats vs. Dayton Greendevils
A well-balanced attack led The Newport Wildcats over the Dayton Greendevils in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Newport blew Dayton out of the water with a 38-7 final score. The result was nothing new for Newport, who have now won four contests by 31 points or more so far this season.
Rod Thompson was on fire: he rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also picked up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown. Kyle Lee also helped with two touchdowns in total.
The victory makes it two in a row for Newport and bumps their season record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38 points. As for Dayton, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-6.
Newport will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Holy Cross at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Holy Cross will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Dayton will take on Trimble County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kentucky (Trimble County is ranked 207th, while Dayton is ranked 185th).
