Baseball Recap: West Wins Going Away Against Shady Spring

West never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past the Shady Spring Tigers 7-0. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Griffin Smith's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, West let Xan Scheidecker and Will Lenczynski run wild. Scheidecker went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run, while Lenczynski scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those four RBI gave Scheidecker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Dugan, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for West and bumps their season record up to 15-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Shady Spring, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-7-1.

West didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-0 win against Gibbs on the 5th. As for Shady Spring, they have also already played their next game, an 8-5 loss against Karns on the 5th.
