Soccer Game Preview: Jefferson vs. Freeport

Jefferson hasn't had much luck against Freeport recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The J-Hawks will be playing at home against the Pretzels at 4:30 p.m. Jefferson will be strutting in after a victory while Freeport will be coming in after a defeat.

Jefferson gave up the first goal on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Belvidere 2-1. Jefferson haven't had any issues with Belvidere recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Freeport fought the good fight in their overtime match against Guilford on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Freeport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 244th, while Guilford are ranked 64th).

Freeport's loss dropped their record down to 3-8-2. As for Jefferson, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-1.

Jefferson might still be hurting after the 4-1 defeat they got from Freeport when the teams last played back in May of 2025. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the J-Hawks were down 4-0.
