Softball Recap: Bear River Sets Scoring Season-High Against Marysville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bear River). They never let the Marysville Indians get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Tuesday. The Bruins have beaten the Indians the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Indians has come to flipping the script.

Ana Marin Hemings made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She also allowed three hits, marking her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taryn Cleek, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Macy Martin, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Bear River's record now sits at 5-2. As for Marysville, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Bear River wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 15-4 loss against Placer on the 27th. As for Marysville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-2 defeat against Oakmont on the 26th.
