There's no place like home for Vermilion, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Perkins Pirates on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sailors have posted since September 19, 2024.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (106-105) Vermilion actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-22, 17-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-11.

Vermilion found their leader in sophomore Elyse Myntti, who had 17 assists and eight digs. Myntti is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Myla Fox also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Vermilion was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in ten consecutive matchups.

The win snapped Vermilion's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-9 record. As for Perkins, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Vermilion didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Port Clinton on the 18th. As for Perkins, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Norwalk on the 18th.
