Softball Game Preview: Bluffton Bobcats vs. May River Sharks

The Bluffton Bobcats will head out on the road to challenge the May River Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bluffton has given up an average of 10.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bluffton came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Beaufort, falling 20-5. The loss continues a trend for the Bobcats in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost nine in a row.

Meanwhile, May River fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against James Island on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Sharks have suffered since March 1, 2025.

Charlotte Berkley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Rice, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.

May River's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Bluffton, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Bluffton couldn't quite get it done against May River when the teams last played back in March as they fell 19-14. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
