Football Recap: Calhoun Takes a Loss

Calhoun dropped to 2-4 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the La Vernia Bears and fell 38-3. The game marked the Sandcrabs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Izaiah Cabrales threw for 63 yards. Holton Hadley was his top target, picking up 43 receiving yards.

As for La Vernia, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 35 points or more this season.

COOPER NULL continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 111 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 34 yards and one touchdown. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 59 yards. La Vernia also got a significant boost from TY CARTER, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.

Calhoun wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 41-36 victory against Jones on the 17th. As for La Vernia, they have also already played their next contest, a 25-22 win against Bay City on the 17th.
