Softball Game Preview: Tri-Central Trojans vs. Elwood Panthers

Tri-Central hasn't had much luck against Elwood recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Tri-Central has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tri-Central came up short against Clinton Central on Wednesday, falling 13-6.

Meanwhile, Elwood earned a 6-1 win over Delta on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly five runs.

Aubree Noland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kelsey Armes, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Taylor Hawks was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Elwood's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-8. As for Tri-Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.

Tri-Central skirted past Elwood 8-7 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
