Baseball Recap: Wiregrass Wins Going Away Against Southern Christian

Wiregrass won the last time they faced Southern Christian and things went their way on Saturday too. The Kings were the clear victors by a 17-6 margin over the Patriots.

Owen Brown made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Brown was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he brought in this season.

In other batting news, Colton Crisler was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Simmons, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Wiregrass always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Wiregrass is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.7 runs. As for Southern Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

Southern Christian has already played their next game (against East Central HomeSchool), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wiregrass will be paying especially close attention to the Patriots' contest: after the Patriots faces off against Chambers Academy, they'll take on Wiregrass again at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
