Basketball Game Preview: Weaver Bearcats vs. Saks Wildcats

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Weaver Bearcats face off against the Saks Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday... Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Weaver is coming into the matchup on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight victories. They took down White Plains 45-31 on Monday.

Meanwhile, Saks came tearing into last Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 win over the Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since December 19, 2023.

Saks' win came from a few key players Weaver will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sania Angel, who posted 12 points along with five boards and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alonna Crews, who went 5 of 12 en route to 14 points.

Weaver's record is now 4-18. As for Saks, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Weaver, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-44 loss to Saks in their previous matchup on January 7th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Angel, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine steals.
