Soccer Game Preview: Normal West vs. Edwardsville

The Normal West Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Edwardsville Tigers at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Normal West barely beat Urbana the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory on Thursday. Normal West might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Edwardsville made easy work of Belleville East on Thursday and carried off a 4-0 win. Given Edwardsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Belleville East are ranked 313th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Edwardsville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those seven contests. As for Normal West, their win bumped their record up to 15-3-1.

Normal West might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Edwardsville in their previous matchup back in August of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
