It was a good run, but Cherokee County unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 48-41 to the Sardis Lions. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Cherokee County's loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-2. As for Sardis, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Cherokee County and Sardis should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Cherokee County (ranked 39th) will meet Alexandria (ranked 245th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cherokee County's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Sardis' offense will have their work cut out for them. Meanwhile, Sardis will face off against Douglas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 235 places (54 vs. 289).
