Softball Recap: Covenant Christian Sets Scoring Season-High Against Heritage Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Covenant Christian). They put the hurt on the Heritage Christian Eagles with a sharp 15-0 win on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Warriors with their most commanding win of the season.

Ariannah Jones and Marissa Silva made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Jones pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Silva struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. At bat, Jones went 4-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Silva went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emmy Nottingham, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Anna Cope, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Covenant Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage Christian only posted an OBP of .211.

The victory got Covenant Christian back to even at 4-4. As for Heritage Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Covenant Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-0 win against Indianapolis Scecina Memorial on the 16th. As for Heritage Christian, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Triton Central on the 17th.
