On Friday, The Park Place Christian Academy Crusaders faced the Newton County Academy Generals in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Park Place Christian Academy had to suffer through a rough 42-8 loss at the hands of Newton County Academy. Park Place Christian Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-0.
Peyton Bray threw for 55 yards on six of 12 attempts. Jake Craig was his top target, picking up 38 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Hunter Scarbrough continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Newton County Academy, rushing for 76 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, while also picking up 50 receiving yards. Scarbrough was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Ty Thrash was another key contributor, rushing for 27 yards and a touchdown.
Park Place Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Newton County Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Park Place Christian Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Mississippi School for the Deaf at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mississippi School for the Deaf will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last. Newton County Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
