Softball Game Preview: Church Point Bears vs. Rayne Wolves

The Church Point Bears will face off against the Rayne Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Church Point will be strutting in after a win while Rayne will be coming in after a loss.

Church Point will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Delcambre on Thursday. Church Point blew past Delcambre 14-2. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won eight in a row.

Reese Kirkpatrick spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emma Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. She also got two hits, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rylee Bertinot, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Church Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Rayne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Notre Dame. One positive for the Wolves, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Rayne's loss dropped their record down to 0-3-1. As for Church Point, the win got them back to even at 2-2-1.
