Basketball Recap: Rock Springs Christian Academy Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Rock Springs Christian Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They managed a 65-60 win over LaGrange Academy on Monday.

Leading Rock Springs Christian Academy to victory were Jason Bates and Jase Nichols. Bates posted 23 points and six rebounds, while Nichols almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Those 23 points gave Bates a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandt Washington, who put up eight points.

LaGrange Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kayde Bradfield, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 40% of LaGrange Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Alex Jarvholm, who had 21 points and six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for LaGrange Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Rock Springs Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 63-48 victory against St. Mary's Academy on the 3rd. As for LaGrange Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-49 loss against Fulton Science Academy on the 6th.
