Volleyball Recap: Payton College Prep Comes Up Short

Payton College Prep was the 2-0 winner over Von Steuben when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Grizzlies fell 2-0 to the Panthers on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

While Payton College Prep was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-22.

Their offense was headlined by Jackson Peters and Jason Beerkens, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Alexander Dragoshanskiy and his ten assists. James Gillman controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Payton College Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 14-18. As for Von Steuben, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-17.

Payton College Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Golder on the 26th. As for Von Steuben, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Taft on the 21st.
