Basketball Recap: Covenant Christian Comes Up Short

Covenant Christian was the 68-58 winner over Shelton when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Covenant Christian Cougars fell 51-41 to the Shelton Chargers on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Covenant Christian still got an impressive performance from AJ Guerra, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. That was a full 56.1% of Covenant Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Lucas Wallace was another key player, putting up ten points and six assists.

Covenant Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Shelton, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-5.

Covenant Christian will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Mercy Culture Prep at 7:15 p.m. As for Shelton, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-45 victory against Prestonwood Christian North on the 14th.
