Baseball Recap: Springville Takes a Loss

If Springville was riding high fresh off their 6-0 takedown of Hayden last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Springville fell just short of the Hueytown Golden Gophers by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Gophers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Springville got a good showing from Matthew Murray, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Springville's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Hueytown, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-8.

Coincidentally, Springville and Hueytown will both be playing Brookwood the next time they take the field. Springville will head out to face Brookwood at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Hueytown will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
