Softball Recap: Bland Takes a Loss

Bland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Hopkins Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-9 last Wednesday.

Makila Watson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Zoey Lawson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Bland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for North Hopkins, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Bland has already played their next contest, a 13-8 win against Cooper on the 10th. As for North Hopkins, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 29-0 victory against Campbell on the 10th.
