Basketball Recap: Monument Valley Mustangs vs. Chinle Wildcats
Monument Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 61-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chinle Wildcats. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Loss or not, Monument Valley got some senior leadership from Ralph Gray III and Latrell Begay. Gray III almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards, while Begay went 7 of 16 en route to 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gray III has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Tsosie, who posted ten points.
Even though they lost, Monument Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.
Monument Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Chinle, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Monument Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-44 win against Round Valley on the 14th. As for Chinle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-53 loss against Tuba City on the 15th.
