League recap: Wallace County tops Dighton to extend winning streak

Northwest Kansas (8 Man) recap November 13, 2013

Wallace County added to the longest winning streak in Northwest Kansas (8 Man) this week by beating Dighton, 51-6. The victory was the 11th in a row for the Wildcats.

The Hornets were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after falling to Wallace County. Dighton came in at 19 in the state poll after placing at number 35 last week.

Kyle Gfeller provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Kevin Ayers' team defeated Ken Simon's team. He completed 4 passes for 41 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 152 yards. Gfeller's key target this week was Cayden Daily, who caught 3 passes for 38 yards.

Nate Klinge was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Wildcats bested the Hornets. He forced 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.

Isaac Alinor was the best receiver in the league this week as Dighton lost to Wallace County. Alinor tallied 5 receptions for 64 yards. Marcos Cruz helped Dighton's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 46 yards.

The Hornets' Tyler Lingg and Alinor led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Lingg has thrown for 914 yards this season, while Alinor has 31 catches for 469 yards. Connor Katt from Hoxie leads the league in rushing with 1,516 yards.

The Indians' Chase Kennedy needs only 72 yards against Hodgeman County next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 154 carries Kennedy has accumulated 928 yard this year.

The Wildcats took down Dighton 51-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Gfeller ran for 152 yards during the win.
