Mangum and Cordell are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2014, but not for long. The Mangum Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Cordell Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mangum has six straight wins, Cordell has 16 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

It was a proper cat-fight when Mangum challenged Mooreland on Friday. Mangum breezed by Mooreland on the road to the tune of 40-8. Fans of the Tigers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mangum to victory, but perhaps none more so than Austin Solis, who rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Gillispie, who picked up 187 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Mangum was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 311 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 205 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Cordell's offense. They had to suffer through a 81-0 loss at the hands of Texhoma/Goodwell. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the are ranked 95th).

Mangum's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Cordell, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything came up roses for Mangum against Cordell in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, as the squad secured a 76-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mangum since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
