Basketball Recap: Roy Comes Up Short

Roy lost against Viewmont back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Roy Royals took a 56-37 bruising from the Viewmont Vikings. The Royals were down 50-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Roy still got an impressive performance from Jerzee Hart, who went 6 for 13 en route to 15 points and six rebounds.

Viewmont's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mara Mickelson led the charge by going 6 of 15 on her way to 20 points and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Mickelson a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Carr, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Roy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Viewmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Roy has already played their next matchup (against Northridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Viewmont will take on Bountiful at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Bountiful has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three games.
