Football Recap: Kankakee Has No Trouble Against Lemont + How To Watch

It's playoff time, and Kankakee had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took down the Lemont Lemont HS 19-3 on Saturday.

One reason for the win was Kankakee's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Camren Johnson and Jyheir Sutton, who each picked up one sack apiece. Kankakee got some further help from Zion Thomas: he made ten total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception.

When it comes to explaining why Lemont lost, don't look at Aiden Rudman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 113 yards, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. Rudman has become a key player for the Lemont HS: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 3-4 otherwise.

Kankakee's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Lemont, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Looking ahead, Kankakee will challenge Providence Catholic at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lemont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
