Miramonte has gone a perfect 4-0 against Moreau Catholic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Matadors will challenge the Mariners at 4:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Miramonte has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Moreau Catholic will arrive with nine straight wins.
Things were looking good for Miramonte after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Berean Christian by a score of 3-2.
Miramonte saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Leibowitz, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Moreau Catholic never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Mission San Jose 11-0.
Moreau Catholic let Micah Marks and Isaiah Clendinen run wild. Marks went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Clendinen went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Marks has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Isaiah Broadus was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Moreau Catholic's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Miramonte, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Miramonte has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Moreau Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Miramonte's way against Moreau Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2018, as Miramonte made off with an 8-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Matadors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
