Rhea County extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 9-1. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 16-10 W against the Walker Valley Mustangs. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Golden Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Jaxton Schmitt had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 98 yards on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 61 yards and one touchdown.

As for Walker Valley, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 7-3. They have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Walker Valley lost, don't look at Cason Cunningham. Despite the final result, he rushed for 206 yards and one score. With that strong performance, Cunningham is now averaging an impressive 103 rushing yards per game.

Rhea County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 38-20 loss against Lawrence County on the 6th. As for Walker Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 27-20 win against Tullahoma on the 6th.
