Basketball Recap: Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets vs. Hampton Hawks
Heartland Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 44-30 to the Hampton Hawks. The Red Hornets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hawks from their previous meeting back in February.

Several Red Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luke Olson, who posted eight points and 18 rebounds. Olson is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Lindner, who had eight points.
Even though they lost, Heartland Lutheran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hampton only pulled down nine offensive boards.
Among those leading the charge was Wyatt Dose, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Rylee Scheidemann, who earned six points.
Heartland Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Hampton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Heartland Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 50-35 defeat against Nebraska Christian on the 14th. Hampton will take on East Butler in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th.
