Basketball Recap: Vanguard Academy Rembrandt Piles Up the Points Against IDEA North Mission

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt posted their biggest victory since December 3rd on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat IDEA North Mission 64-35. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered a 48-33 loss the last time these two teams met.

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gael Cortez led the charge by going 7 of 12 en route to 19 points along with six steals and five boards. That's the most points Cortez has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Cantu, who posted 17 points and four steals.

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for IDEA North Mission, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 4-10.

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-40 victory against Idea Academy on the 23rd. As for IDEA North Mission, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-53 loss against Vanguard Academy Beethoven on the 21st.
