Volleyball Recap: Choctaw Comes Up Short on the Road Against Mount St. Mary

Choctaw kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Mount St. Mary Rockets, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their meetings with the Rockets: they've now lost five in a row.

While Choctaw was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Mount St. Mary's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-15, 25-16.

Mount St. Mary was led to victory by Cheyenne Denwalt and Brecken Smiley. Denwalt had seven digs and one assist, while Smiley had six digs. Those seven digs gave Denwalt a new career-high.

Coming up, Choctaw will square off against Putnam City West at 6:00 p.m. on the 21st. As for Mount St. Mary, they will take on Jenks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
