Basketball Recap: Summit Academy Piles Up the Points Against Taylorsville

Summit Academy had lost four straight, but after bumping their record up to 3-4 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They claimed a resounding 83-48 win over the Taylorsville Warriors. With the Bears ahead 50-24 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Dylan Kartchner had an outrageously good game as he shot 67% from the field to rack up 21 points. What's more, he also posted an 80% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Preston Kelly was another key player, going 6-for-10 on his way to 14 points.

Summit Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

As for Taylorsville, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points over those games.

Despite the loss, Taylorsville still got an impressive performance from Joseph Timpson, who posted 13 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Mcgarvey, who scored four points.

Summit Academy has already played their next game, a 69-49 defeat against Hillcrest on the 9th. As for Taylorsville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 77-52 victory against Tooele on the 9th.
