Baseball Game Preview: Newfound Regional Bears vs. Derryfield Cougars

The Newfound Regional Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Derryfield Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Newfound Regional will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

While Newfound Regional's win against Hillsboro-Deering wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bears had just enough and edged out the Hillcats 4-3. While the Bears didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, while it was Derryfield who put the first runs on the board on Monday, it was Belmont who put up more. The Cougars came up short against the Red Raiders, falling 11-1. The loss was the Cougars' first of the season.

Derryfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keith Townsend, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Derryfield fell to 3-1. As for Newfound Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
