Not much got past Ben Wibbels, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Holdrege off the board. Wibbels also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hastings is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-9 otherwise.
At the plate, Hastings got a big performance out of Tucker Synek, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Synek a new career-high. Elliott Sidlo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
The win got Hastings back to even at 10-10. As for Holdrege, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hastings will challenge Kearney at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holdrege, they will face off against Centennial at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Dusters are facing the Broncos at the right time seeing as the Broncos are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
