Basketball Game Preview: Fremd Vikings vs. Barrington Fillies/Broncos

Fremd hasn't had much luck against Barrington recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Fremd Vikings will take on the Barrington Fillies/Broncos at 6:00 p.m. Fremd will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.

Last Saturday, Fremd greeted the New Year with with a 78-61 win over Oak Park-River Forest. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Huskies are ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Barrington beat Hononegah 60-55 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fillies/Broncos.

Barrington pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Fremd, their win bumped their record up to 14-1.

Things could have been worse for Fremd, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-51 loss to Barrington when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Fremd avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
