The Bermudian Springs Eagles will challenge the Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES on Thursday. Bermudian Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Bermudian Springs is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They put the hurt on Neumann-Goretti with a sharp 8-1 win. Considering the Eagles have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Branson Diller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in 14 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lane Hubbard was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Heller, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mount Carmel waltzed into their match on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Bucks get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. Give the RED TORNADOES' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Not much got past Drew Yagodzinskie, who gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks to keep Dunmore off the board.
On the hitting side, Jon Morgante and Brody Brinkash did most of the damage at the plate: Morgante went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Brinkash went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most RBI Morgante has posted since back in April.
Bermudian Springs pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Carmel, their win bumped their record up to 18-4.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bermudian Springs has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. However, it's not like Mount Carmel struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
