Softball Recap: Perry-Lecompton Comes Up Short

Perry-Lecompton extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Santa Fe Trail Chargers, falling 6-0. If the Kaws were looking for revenge after losing 12-2 to the Chargers when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Olivia Hart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

As for Santa Fe Trail, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

On Santa Fe Trail's side, not much got past Gretchen Huizenga, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Perry-Lecompton off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Trinity Fawl, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Addalyn Sleichter, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Santa Fe Trail beat Perry-Lecompton by a score of 7-2 later that day.
