Softball Recap: Kearns Cougars vs. Hunter Wolverines        
        
		
            
 Kearns was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight  defeat. They lost  14-3 to the Hunter Wolverines. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Kearns of the  20-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April.
 Kearns saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Kallie Stocking, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was  Maliyah Solomon, who  went 1-for-1 with a  stolen base and  an  RBI.
 On Hunter's side,  KENYA LAPUAHO was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  five innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   three  hits. LAPUAHO was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
 In other batting news,  LOREAL GONZALEZ was  incredible,  going 2-for-3 with a  home run, three  runs,  and four  RBI.  ALEXA OLSEN was another key contributor,  going 2-for-3 with two  runs, a  triple,  and a  stolen base.
 Kearns now  has a losing record at 8-9. As for Hunter, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.
 Kearns will look to defend their home field  on Monday against Cyprus at 3:30  p.m. Cyprus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2  runs per game  this season. As for Hunter, they will head out on the road to  square off against  Copper Hills at 3:30  p.m.  on Monday. Both teams will come into the  contest having just posted big wins, so someone is set to suffer a big change in fortunes.
