Baseball Recap: Burke Comes Up Short

Burke fell victim to Sandy Spring Friends and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Wildebeests, falling 7-0. The loss continues a trend for the Bengals in their meetings with the Wildebeests: they've now lost five in a row.

Burke saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Gruber, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Gruber is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played.

Burke's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7-1. As for Sandy Spring Friends, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-4.

Looking ahead, Burke will face off against McLean at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sandy Spring Friends, they will square off against Avalon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
