Basketball Recap: Skyridge Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Timpview

On Thursday, Skyridge faced Timpview in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Skyridge Falcons fell to the Timpview Thunderbirds 63-59. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 52-32 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Skyridge had strong showings from Ellah Oeser, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards, and Bella Sika, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 17 points. That's the most boards Oeser has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Anaiya Nelson, who posted 11 points.

Even though they lost, Skyridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

It was another big night for Lina Ballin, who had 19 points and six assists for Timpview. Ballin has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Grace Erbstoesser, who put up 11 points.

Skyridge's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Timpview, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Skyridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-48 defeat against Fremont on the 13th. As for Timpview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-34 loss against Bingham on the 13th.
