Recap: Glenvar Highlanders vs. Carroll County Cavaliers
The Glenvar Highlanders pushed their score all the way to 61 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The match between Glenvar and Carroll County wasn't particularly close, with Glenvar falling 80-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (58), Glenvar still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Glenvar saw an underclassman step up: Brody Dawyot dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Dawyot scored a full 41% of Glenvar's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Grayson Shephard, who scored 12 points.
Glenvar's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Carroll County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Glenvar won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Christiansburg at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th. Christiansburg has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 294 points over their last five contests. As for Carroll County, they will be playing at home against Alleghany at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Alleghany will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Carroll County is ranked 20th).
